Can Tarot Predict the Future ?

Yes, Tarot Can
Predict the Future

In the method presented here, Tarot is not only considered a tool for introspection or decision-making. It can also be used for divination and reveal, with remarkable accuracy, facts, events, feelings, intentions, dynamics, or developments that may occur in the future.
A card or a reading can therefore provide information about what is likely to happen, a person’s state of mind, the evolution of a situation, or events surrounding the querent.
This divinatory ability does not mean, however, that isolating a single card is enough to obtain an answer. A prediction is built from the reading as a whole, the question asked, the position of the cards, and the relationships between them.

Time Can Be Read
in the Cards

Timing is a particular dimension of divination. Certain cards can provide indications about the duration of an event or when a particular dynamic is likely to manifest.
These indications may come from the symbolism of the card, its cycle, its numbers, or elements directly represented in its imagery.
The Moon, for example, can indicate a period corresponding to half a lunar cycle or a full lunar cycle, depending on the context. Other cards may suggest longer or shorter periods: the High Priestess may indicate a longer timeframe, while the Wheel of Fortune may point to a more rapid development or an imminent change.
However, one should not systematically look for an exact date in a single card. Timing must be recontextualized within the reading as a whole.

The Minor Arcana Have Their Own Cycle

For the Minor Arcana, timing can be understood in particular by placing the card within the progression from Ace to Ten.
Each number represents a stage within a cycle. A card therefore does not merely represent an isolated value: it occupies a particular position within a progression.
The same suit symbol appearing at the beginning, middle, or end of its cycle can therefore provide different indications about the stage a situation has reached and its future development.
Reading timing in the Minor Arcana therefore requires considering the symbol, number, suit, and position within the cycle.

Always Photograph
Your Reading

Some elements of a reading are not immediately understandable. A card that seems secondary during the session may take on its full meaning days or weeks later, when events provide a better understanding of what it was revealing.
This is why I recommend that both the reader and the querent keep a photograph of the reading.
This record allows you to return to the cards later and compare their message with what actually happened. It is also a valuable tool for the reader: over time, it makes it possible to review interpretations, identify correspondences, and gradually refine one’s practice.
For the querent, it also provides an opportunity to revisit the reading with the perspective that events can bring.

A Prediction
Is Not a Fate

The fact that Tarot can reveal a future development does not mean that it is unchangeable.
On the contrary, a reading brings to light the levers capable of changing a prediction. It does not only show what may happen: it can also reveal the causes, obstacles, choices, behaviors, or influences capable of changing the course of a situation.
This is even one of the essential functions of Tarot: to illuminate the future so that we can act upon it.
A prediction should therefore be understood as the expression of a dynamic under the present circumstances. If those circumstances change, the course of events can change as well.
Tarot does not therefore take responsibility away from the querent. On the contrary, it provides elements that can help them become aware of the possibilities available to them and act accordingly.

Predicting in Order
to Choose Better

Divination finds its full meaning when it goes beyond simply announcing what is going to happen.
Tarot can show what is likely to happen, when a dynamic may emerge, how it may develop, and which levers can still change its course.
The goal is therefore not to submit to a prediction, but to understand it.
Knowing a possibility allows you to prepare for it. Identifying an obstacle allows you to avoid it. Understanding a lever allows you to act. And seeing the possible consequences of a choice allows you to make a more informed decision.
From this perspective, divination and decision-making are not opposed: they are two complementary dimensions of the same Tarot reading.
